ROBERT BAGG is a University of Massachusetts Professor Emeritus of English, a poet, and a persistent translator of Greek Drama. His honors include a Prix de Rome, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, a Bellegio residency, and a National Book Award nomination.
Bagg's translations of Euripides' THE BAKKHAI, HIPPOLYTOAS and THE CYCLOPS and of Sophocles' OEDIPUS THE KING and ANTIGONE have been staged in America and abroad since 1956.
His other books of poetry include: BODY BLOWS: POEMS NEW AND SELECTED, THE SCRAWNY SONNETS AND OTHER NARRATIVES, and MADONNA OF THE CELLO: POEMS.
