This time out the Blue Cat may be a couple of years older, but he 's still the actor he was. Perhaps more so, for the world is more somber than ever and the threats both to human life and to the earth itself are even greater than when the Cat was a kitten. In fact, the only way he can get people to listen is to pretend he's not saying what he says -- that he's an illusionist making an illusion of himself. Of course, he's telling the truth. Of course, you don't have to believe him. Nine times out of ten, the truth is unbelievable. The great illusion that underlies the illusions of art is that freedom is attainable. The big difference between us and the Cat is that he believes in truth and freedom and is willing to lay down all his remaining lives for what he believes. We can't ask for more. This book comes with a jazz CD of Reeve reading these new poems to sax and keyboard.
