Poet, novelist, critic and translator, F.D. Reeve has published more than two dozen books of which the most recent are THE RETURN OF THE BLUE CAT, poems with a CD of his reading to the improvisional jazz of the trio Exist 59, and a novel MY SISTER LIFE, both published by Other Press.
He is a professor of letters emeritus at Wesleyan University and has received an honorary doctorate from New England University. His honors include the New England Poetry Society's Golden Rose award and an award in literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
The stories in NORTH RIVER, like the stories in A FEW ROUNDS OF OLD MAID (Azul Editions, 1995), are about the life of the dockers working on the passenger piers in New York.
